Introduction: Snuff was once quite popular among Tibetan.
Various snuff containers, such as snuff-boxes and snuff-bottles, were designed and made for the snuff-takers.
No matter rich or poor, there were always suitable ones for them.
But nowadays, you know, cigarette is overrunning all over the world.
The snuff-bottle tends to be more like a plaything or ornament with ingenious
techniques, stylish appearance and good portability.
The snuff bottle you are
looking at is full of Tibet culture. It is made from yak bone with delicate
hand-carved heaven eyes and mystical Tibetan prayer mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum"
on the other side. You may use it to bottle the sachet.
Heaven eyes are the eyes of Buddha which represent permanence. Buddha will
bring you extraordinary insight and something permanent, enduring, without
shadow of change.
Tibetan Buddhists believe that saying the mantra (prayer) "Om Mani Padme Hum" to
themselves invokes the powerful benevolent attention and blessings of Chenrezig,
the embodiment of compassion. Viewing the written form of the mantra is said to
have the same effect.
Silver is the "Moon's Metal" and is therefore linked with emotions. It fosters
hope, spiritual and romantic love, and grounding. These metallic stones
stimulate psychic awareness and psychic dreams. Silver may offer protection,
especially when traveling and has been empowered with strong money attracting
vibrations. Tibetan silver is a kind of silver alloy made by traditional Tibetan
technology. It looks darker than sterling silver, but it has a special rugged
style which sterling silver can never show. With gelongs' blessing on, it turns
brighter while you keep it on your body.
The yak is a peculiar kind of cattle which lives in snowy highland and has been
domesticated by Tibetan for more than 2000 years. Its sturdy body has very
strong adaptability to the inclement environment. In the Tibetan Genesis, it is
said that, "...the yak's head, eyes, intestines, hairs, hoofs and heart finally
changed into sun, moon, stars, rivers, lakes, forests and mountains". So the yak
was a holy offering in various ancient governmental and religionary ceremonies,
and it was once called "Holy Yak". To kill a yak, a long motet must be repeated
for 300 times, otherwise the killer was going to be cursed. The yak bone which
is the spirit of yak represents purity, strength and courage.
Among the Northwest Coast First Nations, the ultimate symbol of wealth, power
and prestige was (and still is) the copper. Copper means success will come, but
perhaps not as quickly as you hope. The spiritual meaning of copper or brass
means judgment. Possibly you should adjust your sights a bit.
This wonderful piece you are looking is a real product of mysterious Tibetan
culture, which can bring the protection, wealth and good luck.
